info missingMapping the motor cortex in patients with a tumor in the proximity of the primary motor cortex is of crucial importance for the outcome of the surgery. For optimal results, the anatomical relation between the functional and pathological tissues needs to be investigated.

ANT has developed a system which integrates Visor and ASA-Lab for navigated TMS and EMG recording and online processing. This allows to record the evoked motor responses at multiple sites simultaneously, allowing therefore to generate functional maps highlighting the presumed cortical representations of the analyzed muscles. more

info missingPerforming high-density ECG measurements with ASA-Lab might sound challenging, but has been accomplished recently. ANT developed a solution that can be used to measure high-density ECG to create full chest voltage maps and perform ECG source localization. This is achieved by using a combination of a 32 channel ECG vest, the ASA-Lab amplifier and ASA analysis software. This solution is applied by the group of prof. dr. rer. Nat. Dietmar Henrich at the Lausitz University of applied sciences. more

In the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) has been used since 2006 to treat patients suffering from psychiatric diseases including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and depression. Currently, drug-addiction patients are also being implanted. DBS is a humanitarian treatment for refractory patients, as an alternative to surgical brain lesions. As such, DBS is currently being tested in treatment of psychiatric diseases. The DBS system works as a 'brain pacemaker' stimulating regions related to the patient's disease in order to change the way they work. more

info missingNIRS tomography makes use of the fact that light penetrates up to several centimeters of biological tissue. This is demonstrated by an experiment such as depicted in the image to the right. Here, a bright white light source is directed toward a hand, causing a reddish glow in places where light is transmitted through the tissue. The red color is caused by the pigment hemoglobin in the red blood cells, which primarily absorbs wavelengths outside the red and near infrared spectrum. It is seen that no inner structures such as bones or veins are readily revealed by this simple transillumination technique. more

info missingEver wondered what is going in the brain when you are driving a car? Recently we have carried out 64-channel EEG recordings in a driving car. Responses from the subject and synchronzed video were stored as well. more

info missingThe recording of EEG during trans- cranial magnetic stimulation is an extremely usefull technique to measure the response of the brain to this kind of stimulation. The ASA-Lab EEG/ERP system is TMS compatible and allows the recording of EEG during TMS stimulation. more

info missingThe real-time integration of EEG and eye-tracking becomes a more and more requested feature. The eye-trackers from Tobii are extremely usefull for this application. more

info missingNeonatal EEG and EEG from babies are quite a challenge to record. This case shows some of the new developments of ANT in this direction: the neonatal WaveGuard cap system. more
