Although we define more than twenty different types of caps, there are two main families of the WaveGuard EEG cap available:

• Caps according to the five percent electrode system
  This electrode placement scheme is an extension to the 10/20 and 10/10 systems and allows the positioniong of more than 300 electrodes. More importantly, the system includes also a naming scheme for all these electrodes.
  
• Equidistant hexagonal layout - ANT/Duke layout
  In this electrode scheme all electrodes have 6 neighboring electrodes at equal spacing. The layout includes more lower positions; together with the near-perfect spatial distribution this is beneficial for source localization.
