 Activeshield cap 
 The Activeshield cap uses Ag/AgCl sintered electrodes and shielded co-axial cables. This material for the electrodes is recommended by most EEG societies. Among all materials they exhibit the lowest noise level and DC shift. Therefore they can be used for the whole electrophysiological frequency range from DC recordings up to somato-sensory potentials. The sensor elements do not have to be chlorided. The ring electrodes are massive (not plated), and grinding can be used to renew their surface.

Connected to each Ag/AgCl electrode is a shielded co-axial wire. This kind of wire shields the EEG signals that are measured at the electrode and fed into the amplifier. The main advantage of the shielded cable is that movements of the cable and environmental noise do not influence the signals in the cable. The shielded effect can be compared to the effect accomplished by Faraday case or a shielded room. More information on the shielding of the electrode wires can be found here.

The inside of the cap was made utmost flat, so the pressure is evenly spread. The process of minimizing impedances is painless and problem-free. The cap is absolutely suitable for children and infants, and it is available in all sizes. It is possible to lean on the head and one can lie down with the cap on for some time.

The cap system consists of three distinct parts, the cap itself, electrode adaptors and single electrodes. The electrode adaptors can be buttoned into the cap in every single position, or, by means of washers, they can be attached to the skin. So your electrode arrangement is not restricted to the cap area. You can choose your electrode arrangement from 10/10 system-based or equidistant montages for 32, 64, 96 or 128 channels, or we can manufacture a completely new electrode arrangement according to your needs. Since every cap is made individually, the price only depends on the number of channels. There are no expensive extra models. In case you use different electrode arrangements, electrode adaptors are buttoned into all positions. While recording only the adaptors needed are to be equipped with electrodes.

When you are interested in using caps with different sizes, you can use one set of shielded electrodes with caps of different sizes. You do not need to purchase different sets of electrodes with each cap. Since the electrodes are the most expensive part of the cap system, the price per cap becomes more interesting when purchasing 2 or more caps. Moreover, when consider more caps, the price per cap is generally lower than the price per cap of other cap systems.
