Integrated data acquisition The ASA software provides you with the functionality to record EEG and ERP data. The software connects with the ANT amplifier box through a USB interface and displays the incoming stream of data. It measures electrode impedances, records the data to a file, and allows a variety of analysis during the recording. The functions to initialize the recording are wrapped in a customized data acquisition toolbar, which can easily be activated by those who wish to record EEG/ERP with ASA.

Online trigger statistics While acquiring the data, ASA provides information about the ongoing ERP recording and stimulation: the number of incoming triggers, correct responses, mean response time etc are displayed and automatically updated. The triggers can be logically combined to create conditions for online averaging. | ![]()

Realtime spectral analysis Spectral analysis is a key feature of ASA and can be applied online in order to assess the signal quality directly when it is recorded. The line spectrum, spectral power mapping, and compressed density spectral arrays (CDSA, based on FFT and wavelets) are available and can be added any time to the display. | ![]()

Online averaging Doing ERP in the lab means in-time assessment of signal quality, as you will have to reschedule your volunteers for another recording otherwise. Online averaing of the desired ERP component is just a button click away, while the raw EEG is being recorded. The online averaging can be done in a user-defined montage, e.g. in just a few central channels to show the existance of a P300 effect in your ongoing recording.

Remote stimulation/acquisition control Start and stop recording can be programmed to ensure your data is automatically stored when you start your stimulation paradigm. Remote control of the eevoke stimulation package is available as well. The key benefit of this that you only need to operate one computer and can focus on your subject instead of thinking which key to press next. Even better, the stimulation session can be activated via your local network from the acquisition computer, further reducing the interaction.

Recording of video and EEG For those researchers that wish to add video to the asa-lab recording system, a video module is available. It offers many features for video recording, review and editing. More importantly, the video is synchronized with the EEG and stored in a compressed MPEG4 video format. more
