| Chances are that you are using the WaveGuard EEG caps or heard about it. If not, just take a look at our website later to learn about its features, the link at the end of this article takes you there directly. The first WaveGuard caps were made almost six years ago. During this period, we went through several iterations of improvement for better wearing comfort and ease of application, and long life time of the material. In this article we would like to focus on the recent improvements that have made the use even easier. |
Size-matching Color Schemes The first generation of the WaveGuard caps was available in one color, blue. Due to one single color it was quite difficult to distinguish different sized caps from each other. To make work with the caps easier we added three more colors and applied them variedly, combining the sides and top to create distinct combinations for each of the available sizes.The illustration below shows how we used colors to identify the available sizes in a glimpse. Apart from the color coding, all caps are provided with a size label in the neck. |

New High-density Electrode Rings The flexible contact rings in the WaveGuard electrodes are made from medical grade silicone and provide most comfortable contact to the subject's head. This important part of the cap now comes in two versions: the 16 mm wide standard type, which is fine for inter-electrode distances of down to ca. 35 mm, and the 13 mm small type, which is especially suited for high-density caps with 128 or more channels, in baby caps with 32 or more channels, and in all caps used in neonates. |  |
| All WaveGuard caps with 128 or more channels are now by default equipped with the small rings. Since the electrode rings can easily be replaced by the user as well, we made them available as a separate item - please contact our local distributor or one of our offices in case you would like to have more information about the new high-density rings or you are interested in purchasing them. |
Refined Size Scheme The WaveGuard size chart assists in selecting the right size of cap for your subjects based on their head circumference. The chart has been slightly updated to make a better distinction possible. Starting from size Baby, the min-max values were adjusted and overlaps in sizes were removed. The chart still covers the same circumference range with the same amount of sizes and will help you to select the right size of caps when ordering them. The neonatal range of caps remained unchanged. |  |
