 Expected release: Visor 2

While the main look and feel of Visor has not changed radically, Visor 2 features much more than its predecessor. The biggest news is the integration with up to 6-channel EMG recording and the color coding of the stimulation sites based on the automatically calculated peak to peak amplitude of the evoked TMS response. Visor 2 allows therefore simultaneous motor mapping of up to 6 channels.

Functional visualization of the coil
The visualization of the coil has also become much more intuitive: while still projecting the estimated electrical field, Visor 2 now plots the projection of the TMS coil directly on the 3D model of the brain, making it easier to understand where the hot spot presumably is, how the coil is oriented with respect to the brain anatomy and how far the coil is from the underlying brain structures.

Easy and automated scalp and brain segmentation
Segmentation of the scalp and the brain has also become much easier. Visor 2 features a dedicated workflow which allows you to perform the 3D modeling within a couple of minutes. It also includes an option for the completely automatic segmentation, which makes the preparation of the patient 3D model even quicker.

Export to DICOM of stimulated sites and any other image markers
The interoperability of the Visor system with other systems for clinical and research use has been improved. Visor 2 is now able to export the positions of the stimulated sites and any other freely set image markers directly into the DICOM MRI format, making it possible for you to review the stimulated sites with any MRI image reader. Our robot-guided TMS system, SmartMove, is now also able to import and reproduce the positions of the sites you have been stimulating manually with Visor.

Improved usability
We have been also working on the usability of the software and tried to improve it thanks to your feedback. Many problems of Visor have been solved and many improvements have been made. Visor 2 makes it for example possible to switch views, tasks and stimulation targets through the remote control, without the need for using the mouse or the keyboard anymore. Usability improvements have been also made on the hardware side of the system. We were aware that the calibration of some coils, like the Magstim Air Film Coil was rather tricky, and therefore we designed a new board to univocally fit the coil, making the coil calibration as simple as placing the coil in the appropriate notch.

Accuracy check at the end of each session
The accuracy is always the main issue for a navigation system. Visor already features head shape based registration, which allows for a much better fitting rather than relying only on a limited number of anatomical landmarks. This algorithm has been further refined and improved in Visor 2. Furthermore, Visor 2 allows you to always check whether the head reference tool has moved during a stimulation session and gives you an estimate on how reliable your data is.
